The original Audlem Village Design Statement and Landscape Character Assessment was produced by Audlem Planning Group and endorsed by the former Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council's Development Control Committee on 5th March 2009. It was also endorsed by the new Cheshire East Council on 29th July 2009.

In late 2011 the Audlem Planning Group reviewed the original document and updated it. It was approved by the Parish Council in December 2011 and in February 2012 Cheshire East Council acknowledged receipt of it. CEC confirmed that the document will be given due weight as a material planning consideration when determining planning applications in the Parish of Audlem.
